The Danish Christmas Seal

The 2013 Danish Christmas Seal was designed by English-born graphic designer Keith Bassford. The inspiration came when he came across several boxes containing old scraps from more than 100 years ago. 40 of these scraps were hand picked and turned in to this years Christmas Seal.

Danish children in need for help
750 boys and girls benefits from a ten week stay at one of the four Christmas Seal Homes, located in beautiful surroundings in Skælskør, Ølsted, Hobro and Kollund, each year. Boys and girls that arrive with some serious scars because of bullying, being overweight and a general lack of self-esteem.

During the ten weeks stay the children are surrounded by adults who teach them healthy living - both physically and mentally - with the overall aim of building up their self-esteem and providing them the tools to continue the positive progress when they get back home.

Staying at a Christmas Seal Home is free of charge.

The Christmas Seal Foundation
The Christmas Seal Homes are funded by the income of the sale of the annual Christmas Seal, reprints of older editions of Christmas Seals as well as contributions from associations, companies and individuals.

In 2011 the revenue of the Christmas Seal was 18.322.228 DKK, which covers about one third of the overall expenses that the Christmas Seal Foundation holds.
